So “Please Say Something!” won the Golden Bear for best short film at 2009 Berlineale. Very much deserved imo! It is quite different from anything else I’ve seen, and that’s rare nowadays.Congrats David.

Ara mateix sóc a l’aeroport de San Francisco esperant el vol, en total 20+ hores d’avions i aeroports, per arribar just 18 hores abans de la boda!

PD: sembla absurd, però a la Terminal Internacional de l’aeroport de San Francisco no hi ha premsa internacional. Només trobo diaris americans…. Realment només es creuen el centre de l’univers aquesta gent!

Per alguna raó no m’acostumo a que tant el software com els llocs web estiguin en català. Tot i que les traduccions són perfectament correctes, per alguna extranya raó no em sento “com a casa” i acabo canviant a l’anglès…

És curiós perquè sempre esperava que algú traduís el software que més utlitzo al català; i ara que ja n’hi ha alguns dels que utilitzo diàriament en català (Adium, VLC, SubEthaEdit, Firefox…), acabo passant-me a l’anglès perquè no trobo les coses. Hi ha certes coses que el meu cervell està acostumat a fer en anglès, i de la mateix manera que em resulta incòmode canviar d’idioma amb una persona (heu parlat de parlar amb els vostres pares en castellà?), suposo que el mateix passa amb el software… Però cal acostumar-se; ja que això és un molt bon senyal per la salut del Català!

Almost a week in a small small french town (St Brieuc). The best was having a chance to meet the other invited artists.

I loved Pablo Vabuena‘s Augmented Sculpture. Absolutely shocking and tripping.

Vincent Elka’s “Shout” was a bit too “let’s make it big, and it will be good” for me (this way of thinking reminds me of some back at Fabrica), but the visual treatment and the energy it transmitted where ellaborated. I always feel sound-based interaction is be frustrating and random. This was no exception.

The other piece was “Se Mi Sei Vicino”, by Sonia Cillari. Shame I didnt have a chance to see it finished, as I had to leave before it was all set up… But seemed very promising! And Sonia and Pix were good fun… That last night, in that weird bar where we were told a life-story in spanish by a crazy looking old woman was unforgetable. Oh and of c, Pix is Australian…how random meeting someone from Adelaide again!

I’m learning new things since the release of BugMirror, my first shareware app. I guess it is a good sign when people reach your site when looking for a pirated SN of your soft through google… Google analytics is very neat, as it lets you see what did visitors type in their search queries that directed them to your site.

Cmon people! BugMirror is only 7,99€! If you like it enough to go and look for a Serial Number online you might as well pay for it! It’s no more than what you spend going to the cinema! (At least here in Barcelona).

Anyway, glad you like it!

That’s not so cool on its own, but calamari skin is. I know they can change their skin “color”, but I had no idea they could do it even after dead! And never had a chance to see it from so close up; Such a beautiful patterns!

After playing with the new Interface Buider a bit, I saw a very amazing feature. You can apply “Core Animation” to any view (that is, custom NSViews, OpenGL Views, WebKit Views, NSProgressBar, anything!) That means you can “post-filter” any view with any combined stack of the well-known CoreImage Filters! (Blur, CMYK  Halftone, Kaleidoscope, etc…) Very cool indeed!

On the image, Remote with a “cmyk halftone” filter applied, running at full speed and no extra CPU cost. All the work is done in the GPU, neat.
